On June 24, Xpeng Motors announced the start of production at its EPMB facility in Malacca, Malaysia. This site marks the company’s third global localized production base, with capacity ramp-up already underway. The first model to roll off the assembly line is the Xpeng G6 is the first, produced via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly method.

Xpeng currently operates three global localized production bases: the Indonesia facility in West Java (which began production in July 2025), the Austria facility located within the Magna Steyr plant in Graz (operational since Q3 2025), and the newly inaugurated Malaysia plant. Currently, the Indonesian base manufactures the X9, while the Austrian facility handles production for the G6 and G9 models.

The official rollout of the first G6 units from the Malacca EPMB plant represents a significant milestone in Xpeng’s globalization strategy within Southeast Asia. By leveraging the local CKD assembly model, Xpeng effectively bypasses Malaysian tariff barriers, significantly optimizing both terminal pricing and delivery efficiency. The Malacca facility, alongside the Indonesian plant, creates a dual-manufacturing hub for right-hand drive vehicles in Southeast Asia. This network is strategically positioned to serve core ASEAN markets, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Combined with the production capacity of the Magna plant in Europe, Xpeng is steadily building a localized production network that spans across Eurasia.
