Spy shots of the upcoming rugged SUV from Stelato, the premium brand born from the partnership between Huawei and BAIC, have surfaced online. This new model aligns with previous comments made by Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit, who confirmed during a livestream that a rugged SUV would join the Stelato lineup later this year. The vehicle is positioned to offer a distinct alternative to the current offerings within the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) ecosystem and has reportedly received positive feedback during initial market research.

The camouflaged test vehicle was spotted near the BAIC New Energy factory, showcasing a boxy, angular design language. The front fascia features rectangular headlight housings containing circular and semi-circular lighting elements, with the outer ring serving as the daytime running light and the inner lens for the main beam. Notably, the design retains a front grille, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is clearly visible, underscoring the vehicle’s advanced intelligent driving capabilities.

In profile, the SUV exhibits a substantial footprint with a long wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs. The window design follows the vehicle’s sharp, geometric aesthetic, suggesting a generous interior space.

Previous reports involving a “mule” vehicle for this project revealed a unibody construction, paired with a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear setup, complemented by an air suspension system. Whether this configuration will translate into a hardcore off-roader or a more lifestyle-oriented SUV remains to be seen as more official details emerge.
