On December 14, NIO and State Grid Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “State Grid Electric”) signed the “Intensive Cooperation Framework Agreement on Charging and Swap and Energy Services.” The two parties will fully integrate their respective advantageous resources, actively explore the innovation of vehicles and charging business models, carry out cooperation in the construction of charging and swapping stations, and car network interaction, and jointly promote the consumption of clean energy.
As early as 2017, NIO signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with State Grid Electric. This time, it will further establish an in-depth cooperative relationship in the field of charging and swapping operations. The two parties plan to build 100 charging and swapping power stations nationwide in 2021 to realize the full interconnection and interoperability of charging and swapping facilities, complement each other’s advantages, enhance users’ energy supplement service experience, further reduce users’ car costs, and promote the promotion of new energy vehicles.

Li Bin, chairman of NIO, introduced at the meeting that as of the end of November, the cumulative sales of NIO’s three pure electric models reached 68,630, which were delivered in 319 cities across the country. A total of 165 power swapping stations, 85 supercharge stations, more than 40,000 household charging piles have been built, and the proportion of private piles is about 70%. A set of energy Internet service systems covering private charging, public charging, battery swapping, and one-key power-up have been formed. At the same time, NIO and State Grid are also exploring the mode of joint construction of power station swaps. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei and other places have layouts.
NIO and State Grid Electric have launched a pilot program of V2G technology (using the power battery of electric vehicles to reverse power to the grid). In 2021, they will promote V2G technology to encourage electric vehicle users to charge during the low electricity consumption period.
