Update: On May 24, the all-new NIO ES6 was officially launched. This new electric SUV is offered by a total of 2 trims, priced at 368,000 to 426,000 yuan. NIO also offers battery lease model for this EV, after paying 298,000 yuan, the monthly fee is 980/1680 yuan depending on the battery capacity.
At the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, all-new NIO ES6 officially debuted. The new EV is built on the new NT2.0 platform, featuring NIO’s new family-style design, and adds a laser radar, indicating that it is equipped with NIO Aquila super-sensing system. According to the plan, the new car will be launched in late May.
All-new NIO ES6 is equipped with NIO‘s 2nd-gen electric drive platform, which uses silicon carbide power modules, it has stronger performance and lower energy consumption. In terms of power, it uses a front 150kW induction motor + a rear 210kW permanent magnet motor, with a total power of 360kW and a torque of 700N m. In addition, the charging port has also been moved from the front fender to the normal left rear position, so you don’t have to worry about charging when parking.
There are so many pure electric smart luxury SUVs in the Chinese market now. What is the uniqueness of NIO’s design?
Although the overall profile of the front of the car is similar to the previous generation model, the latest scheme has been adopted in the detail design. The split lamp group and the slender strip daytime running lights can well distinguish the old and new models.
The all-new ES6 adopts the second-generation design language and continues the design concept of “Design for AD”. However, the details are more concise than the previous generation models, and a balance is found between the obvious and the hidden.
The watchtower-like sensor components protruding from the roof emphasize its driving assistance capabilities. For the hidden parts, except for the door handle, the rearview mirror turn signal, rear wiper, and even the BC pillar of the window are all hidden.
Compared with the previous generation model, the front face is also simpler, which reduces the aggressiveness of the X-Bar. The hidden diversion port on the side of the headlight also reduces the complexity of the front face lines, but the iconic Shark Nose feature line is still there.

Focus on optimizing user experience
Although the body height is reduced by 55mm, through the overall optimization of the cockpit layout and the use of a new base material for the roof, the thickness is reduced by 3mm under the premise of ensuring NVH performance, which increases the headroom of the front row by 14mm and the headroom of the rear row by 75mm.
At the same time, the 1538mm lateral space brought by the 1995mm vehicle width optimizes the rear seating experience. The overall area of the skylight is 1.3 m², the daylighting area exceeds 1 m², the windows account for 68%, and the openable length reaches 707mm.
The design of the rear also adopts the bar-type taillight bar design similar to NIO ES8, using bar-type illuminBlade taillights, the narrowest part is only 4.3mm, and adopts ultra-red light technology, which has higher night recognition and safety factor. Known as the most “slim” high-mounted brake light in the industry, the width reaches 864mm, and the narrowest point is only 5mm.
All-new ES6 series are equipped with 20-inch low-drag racing wheels and self-developed high-performance four-piston fixed calipers as standard. Up to 21-inch wheels with carbon fiber trim are optional. The 21-inch wheels equipped with the P Zero ELECT electric Car-specific tires, the size is 265/45 R21 front and rear. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4854/1995/1703mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2915mm.
The interior is on par with ES8, warm and luxurious is the main tone
The new ES6 abandons the traditional embedded instrument center control design, and adopts the same floating screen and hidden air outlet design of the ES8, which reduces the overall visual thickness of the center console. A large number of soft curved surfaces further interpret the design concept of the “second living room” in the interior of the entire ES6.
The second-generation queen co-driver can realize 22-way adjustment, and still has a one-button comfort mode. It is linked with the headrest, back cushion, seat cushion, leg rest and foot rest to achieve a zero-gravity posture with a double 120° sitting posture.
The seat of the all-new ES6 supports FOTA upgrade, and the seat frame is 25% lighter than before. In terms of seat wrapping, the Multi-Layer multi-layer comfort system is adopted. Divided into epidermis 3DMuller fiber layer, Comfort Pad comfortable foam layer and two-way dual hardness foam layer, which fully guarantee the comfort of shoulders, outer thighs and other parts, and the side wing support can provide better wrapping during long-distance travel.

All-new NIO ES6 comes standard with Aquila NIO super-sensing system and ADAM NIO super-computing platform, equipped with Banyan NIO intelligent system, which will also usher in a major upgrade, and the user experience will be further improved.
In terms of driving assistance sensors, the standard Aquila NIO super-sensing system on NIO ES6 has a total of 33 high-performance sensors, including a 1550nm roof lidar, seven 8-megapixel cameras around the car, and four 3-megapixel cameras. Surround view camera, 5 millimeter wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars. The car has two built-in high-precision positioning units, which can support more complex navigation road conditions. At the same time, the vehicle-road coordination and driver perception systems are also included in the standard configuration, and NIO will have more expansion capabilities in the future.
In addition, the new NIO ES6 series is equipped with four NVIDIA Drive Orin X chips as standard, with 48 CPU cores, 256 matrix operation units, 8096 floating point operation units, a total of 68 billion transistors, and a total computing power of 1016 TOPS, exceeding total computing power of 7 Tesla FSDs.
In terms of power, referring to other models under NIO, it may be equipped with a standard battery pack (75kWh), with a CLTC battery life of 465 kilometers; a long battery pack (100kWh), with a battery life of 605 kilometers, and an ultra-long battery pack (150kWh). The battery life is up to 900 kilometers.
In the current luxury SUV market in China, in addition to traditional luxury brands, NIO and Lixiang should all be counted.
