On October 9th, NIO Automobile officially announced that NIO China Headquarters, located in the Economic Development Zone of Hefei Area, Anhui Free Trade Zone, was officially opened.

The location of NIO’s China headquarters in Hefei was first settled in April this year. On April 29, 2020, NIO and Hefei Construction Investment Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd., SDIC China Merchants Investment Management Co., Ltd., and other strategic investors signed a final agreement on investing in NIO China (headquarters) and signed a contract with Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone. According to the investment agreement, strategic investors will invest RMB 7 billion in NIO China. NIO will inject NIO (Anhui) Holdings Co., Ltd., the legal entity of NIO China, into core businesses and related assets in China, including vehicle research and development, supply chain and manufacturing, sales and services, and energy services.
It is reported that at present, NIO’s business in China has been in full swing, including vehicle research and development, supply chain, sales and service, energy services, etc. NIO and JAC have also officially launched the expansion of advanced manufacturing bases. With the opening of NIO China headquarters, NIO will increase the size of the Hefei team, continue to deepen cooperation with the local supply chain, and take root in Hefei more deeply.

It is worth mentioning that NIO will cooperate with the Charging Company in Hefei province, a subsidiary of Hefei Construction Investment Group, to promote the construction of power swap facilities. In 2020 and 2021, new power swap facilities will be built. Currently, the first batch of 20 power swapping stations proposed to be built has been initially selected. Through the layout of the complementary charging + swapping model, Hefei will further strengthen Hefei’s leading position in the charging and swapping network in the field of smart electric vehicles.
Currently, NIO’s development trend is gradually improving. In September, NIO delivered 4,708 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 133.2%, which was the brand’s best monthly sales performance since delivery. In the third quarter, NIO delivered a total of 12,206 vehicles, an increase of 154.3% year-on-year, and also set a new quarterly delivery high. As of October 5, 2020, NIO users have done battery swapping for more than 1 million times, and 155 power swapping stations have been completed nationwide.
