Recently, another Chinese EV startup SERES debuted its 2nd EV, the SERES iX3, during the 2020 Chengdu Auto Show. The new car is positioned as a compact SUV and is an extended-range EV after its first EV – SERES SF5. The car is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 17.28kWh, with a pure electric cruising range of 100km.

The front face of the new car has a simple shape. The front enveloping air inlet is huge in size and is embellished with chrome trim, with the square headlight shape and two-tone body design, creating a sporty and tough temperament.

The sidelines of the body are smooth, the double waistline and color stickers create a swooping body posture, and the roof starts to tighten downwards behind the B-pillar, and the “fastback” shape further highlights the sense of movement. In the rear part of the car, the iX3 has a full-bodied styling, the taillights echo the headlights, and there is a “SERES” nameplate between the taillights, which is different from the front. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4385mm/1850mm/1650mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2655mm.

In terms of interior, the overall design of the new car is very simple, the layout of the T-shaped center console is very neat. The three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel that emphasizes sports and the air-conditioning vents similar to the engine shape makes the interior look not monotonous. The combination of the full LCD instrument + floating central control screen adds a sense of technology to the interior.

In terms of power, SERES iX3 will launch two extended-range models with a maximum electric motor power of 120kW (163Ps), a peak torque of 300N·m, an official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 9.5s, and a maximum speed of 155km/h. The car is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 17.28kWh. It has a pure electric cruising range of 100km. It uses electricity for short distances and oil for long distances, thereby further eliminating users’ mileage anxiety and avoiding charging difficulties.
