Land Rover’s all-new Range Rover Evoque will be listed in China on 31th July, the new car will be launched in six models, including: the base model, S, SE, HSE and R-Dynamic S First Edition and R-Dynamic SE First Edition, pre-sale price starts at 359,000 yuan (~US$52,149), the pre-sale price of R-Dynamic S First Edition is 390,800 yuan (~US$56,769). This is the first model built by Jaguar Land Rover’s new PTA horizontal structure. Both appearance & interior are inline with US version, it is more focused on the flat design. The engine is also the same Ingenium series 2.0-Liter turob four-cylinder gasoline engine + 48V mild hybrid (MHEV). At the moment, the China version Range Rover Evoque is made by Chery-Jaguar which is a joint venture by Chery and Jaguar-Land Rover, each company taking 50% stake.
The new generation Range Rover Evoque uses the latest Range Rover family design language, the headlights are long and sharp, the inverted trapezoidal honeycomb grille and the decorative air inlets on both sides are impressive. The side of vehicle are not changed too much, the black wheel eyebrows are cancelled, the overall feeling trends to urban style. The two-tone body remains, offering more personality options. In addition, the door handle also uses a hidden design like Range Rover Velar, which is full of technology and reduces the drag coefficient. The new car has a length, width and height of 4371/1904/1649mm, which is almost the same as the current model. The wheelbase is 2681mm, 21mm longer compared to the current model.
The interior of the all-new Range Rover Evoque is more luxurious than the current model, the design of the dual touch screen is impressive. In addition, the multi-function steering wheel is changed to a touch design, and the instrument panel is also turned into a full liquid crystal form, which is cooler than outgoing model. For the first time, Evoque adopted ClearSight Grand View technology, which can display the road surface effect of the 180° visual blind zone in front of the car, the entire engine compartment becomes “transparent”. In addition, the streaming rearview mirror is also present in the new car. The rear view can be 50° wider than the traditional rearview mirror. In addition, the electronic gear is also standard, but it is not a knob form, it is much similar to a traditional gear lever.
The new generation of Range Rover Evoque is based on the PTA transverse engine platform and is equipped with a 2.0T engine +48V system, which can help the energy consumption. For the gearbox, the 9-speed AMT transmission is still standard. Regarding to the chassis, the rear suspension structure has been upgraded from the previous multi-link to the H-arm, and there should be some improvement in performance.
