Chery Auto to produce new fuel cell vehicle project

Chery has made new moves in the field of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. According to the environmental assessment announcement recently released by the Wuhu Ecological Environment Bureau, Chery New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Chery New Energy) reported a project named “Development and Industrialization of Chery Fuel Cell Electrode Reactive System”.

According to the above project report, Chery New Energy intends to build the above-mentioned project in the High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Oujiang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Chery New Energy has purchased a total of 37,464 square meters of land with a total investment of 300 million yuan. After the project is completed, it can achieve the target of producing 440 sets of hydrogen fuel cell assemblies per year.

In fact, Chery was one of the Chinese car brands that had earlier deployed the field of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. According to the available information, Chery began to work with Tongji University on hydrogen fuel cells as early as 2005. Based on Chery Eastar, Chery Automobile developed a fuel cell car code-named SQR7000 in 2010. , and was successfully listed in the “210th Batch of Vehicle Manufacturers and Product Announcements” of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; and in 2016, 2018 and 2019, Chery Automobile successively exhibited additional developments based on the development of the Arrizo 3 and Arrizo 5 extended fuel cell vehicle.

Although R & D has a long history, Chery has not yet mass-produced its hydrogen fuel cell technology. With the advancement of the above fuel cell projects, Chery’s R & D in the field of fuel cells may go further, and it is also worth looking forward to when it can achieve large-scale mass production.
