Recently, Chery Group and Baidu Group met with each other, the two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in areas such as intelligent driving. The Xiaodu car OS will expand from Chery’s new high-end brand EXEED to more models of Chery, and finally to all products of Chery’s brands.
In terms of intelligent driving business, the two parties will jointly create the next generation of intelligent cockpit products. At the same time, the two parties will also explore the international solution of intelligent network. Baidu will formulate targeted technical solutions to help Chery Group strengthen its development in North American, Europe markets through its experience in the field of multilingual speech semantic technology. Chery Group will share overseas market cooperation resources with Baidu and leverage its advantages in engineering research and development, manufacturing, and operation channels to expand Baidu Group’s influence in the automotive industry.
In fact, Chery Group has been a core member of Baidu’s Apollo program in all the time. As early as August 2016, Chery and Baidu launched a pure electric driverless car based on Chery eQ; in November of the same year, at the World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang, the eQ driverless car jointly developed by Chery and Baidu conducted the first trial operation of opening urban roads in China.
In April 2017, Chery and Baidu signed a strategic cooperation agreement to continue to deepen cooperation in the field of smart cars. In January 2018, Chery Arrizo 5 featured with Baidu Apollo autonomous driving technology debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA. In June 2019, Chery EXEED and Baidu Apollo landed at CES Asia.
