● As a home use car, Chery A1‘s power is not satisfied at all
Let’s take a look at the description from manufacturers on Chery A1‘s engine:
Chery A1 carries the ACTECO SQR473F engine, it is a independent intellectual property rights engine which owned completely by Chery, designed by Austrian AVL, also it has been used on Chery QQ613 before. SQR473F engine uses double overhead camshaft, 16 valve structure, the maximum power 61Kw, the maximum torque is 114Nm, it is the leading product in its same class in China.
It is really regrettable that it seems ACTECO 1.3L engine was not calibrated for this vehicle, and they calibrated too weak for the low torque part of the engine for the drivers who are beginner and usually drive in city (we think most of the customers who buy such a cute car are beginner or home-use), once the pedal force you are feeding is too light, the very low torque is not enough to push the car going, it could mean – stalling if a beginner who just get started to use A1, stop and go in city road condition is not enjoyable thing for A1, you need to speed up the rotational up to 3000 rpm so that you may taste the pleasure of acceleration!
The most dissatisfied is A1 will ignore your action even if you fully step on accelerator when the engine is under 2000rpm (whatever the gear position is in), it is not sensational nonsense, tachometer rises in a very slow rate, in a long time, you will think you are driving a battery power car, slowly comes first at full sprint.
☆ Although power is so so, the calibration of exhaust system is very hard work
Although Chery A1‘s power output is not very thorough, the exhaust has given enough of the sporty sense, sounding exhaust noise in the low-key and arrogant found between a very good balance, so that friends who want to modified A1 can save a part of budget on exhaust pipe.
☆ There is a small problem on gearbox
Weakness may also affect the power output to the transmission of the “mood” in testing for a few days, A1 transmission performance is not very well, it’s a little hard to engage gear (especially the 1st gear), sometimes it needs to step on clutch several times then it can be engaged.
Many users have feedback on their A1 that it often slips into neutral gear, although this may be a protection system when it is not engaged properly.
