Recent media reports indicate that Firefly, NIO‘s third brand, is currently producing right-hand drive (RHD) versions of its vehicles, with an official launch in the UK market anticipated for October this year. Firefly currently offers two models in China, with a price range of 119,800 to 125,800 RMB. The brand’s first model, also named Firefly, is positioned as a compact car and will leverage NIO’s existing sales, delivery, and service network.

The Firefly’s exterior design incorporates biomimicry, featuring a distinctive “trio” headlight design composed of three circular light rings that offer high recognition when illuminated. The vehicle also boasts a 92-liter front trunk (frunk) with layered storage and drainage capabilities, significantly enhancing its storage space. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4003mm in length, 1781mm in width, and 1557mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2615mm.

The side profile showcases a two-tone body with blacked-out A and B pillars, and the C-pillar seamlessly connects with the roof, creating a personalized look. It is equipped with 215/50 R18 two-tone multi-spoke wheels. The rear of the vehicle echoes the “trio” light cluster design, complemented by a roof spoiler, providing design cohesion and adding to its individuality. Consumers can choose from five exterior colors: Inspiration Purple, New Life Green, Leisurely Beige, Pure White, and Exploration Grey.

Inside, the Firefly features a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a large floating central control screen, and a full LCD instrument cluster, catering to the aesthetic preferences of young consumers. Notably, the official statement confirms that all soft-touch interior materials meet safety standards certified for infant and maternal products. The Firefly offers four interior color options and two interior material choices. For driving and handling, the Firefly boasts a class-leading minimum turning radius of 4.7 meters and comes with full-scene automatic parking functionality.

In May of this year, Firefly reported 3,680 new vehicle deliveries in its first full month of sales. As of now, the Firefly brand has accumulated 3,911 new vehicle deliveries.

During the Shanghai Auto Show in April, Pu Yang, Head of Brand Marketing for Firefly, revealed that the brand plans to enter 16 countries in 2025 that have a demand for compact and intelligent vehicles. Seven of these will be European countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, and Romania.

As a battery-powered electric compact car, the Firefly is expected to compete with upcoming models such as the Volkswagen ID.2 and Renault 5 in the European market. Both of these vehicles are also compact hatchback models, characterized by their compact bodies and vibrant exterior colors.
