BYD’s official WeChat public account released a set of official images of its new mid-size SUV. The new car will be positioned between SONG Pro and TANG in the future, and provides 1.5T engine fuel version and pure electric version models. The range of the model will be available in 500km and 400km. At the same time, the car has “S5, SE, AIR, CROSS, L, PLUS, SPORT” and other tail labels in the previously declared optional wordmark, which may be the future name of the car. But since we see the name of SONG PLUS directly marked on the main map of the declared model, we temporarily call it SONG PLUS, and of course it is named as other possibilities.
In terms of appearance, combined with the official picture released this time and the previously declared picture, the new car uses the design language of the BYD family Dragon Face 2.0, and the design sense is outstanding. Specifically, the new car’s headlight group uses the latest dragon claw elements, with the ridge line along the side of the engine compartment and the waistline of the car body, full of muscle.
For the rear, the new car adopts a bar-type tail light group, and is decorated with chrome trim. The center is marked with the “Build Your Dreams”. The overall look is relatively simple. In terms of body size, its length, width and height are respectively 4705/1890/1680mm, and the wheelbase is 2765mm. In addition to the height, other parameters have exceeded SONG Pro.
In terms of power, according to the previously reported information, the fuel version of the new car is equipped with the 1.5T engine (code name BYD476ZQB). This engine has a maximum power of 160 horsepower and a peak torque of 245 Nm. It is expected to be the same as the SONG Pro, matching it with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The pure electric model is equipped with a 120kW electric motor. The entire system is expected to be consistent with the pure electric version of SONG Pro. We learned that its cruising range is divided into two versions of 400km and 500km (the test conditions are unknown).
