Xiaomi is set to expand its YU7 lineup with a new entry-level variant, as revealed in the latest batch of China’s vehicle purchase tax exemption catalog. This upcoming model is expected to lower the entry price for the series, potentially starting below 250,000 RMB (approximately $34,500 USD).
According to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the new entry-level Xiaomi YU7 maintains the core design and dimensions of the existing model, measuring 4,999mm in length, 1,996mm in width, and 1,608mm in height, with a 3,000mm wheelbase. Despite its positioning as a more accessible option, the vehicle retains key hardware, including LiDAR sensors, ensuring that the brand’s signature tech-forward experience remains intact.
Under the hood, the new variant is powered by a single motor manufactured by Inovance Automotive, delivering a maximum output of 235 kW—matching the performance of the current long-range rear-wheel-drive model. The vehicle is equipped with a 73 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack from CATL. Thanks to a reduced curb weight of 2,200 kg—115 kg lighter than the current long-range version—the new model achieves a CLTC-rated range of 633 km to 643 km.
In terms of features, the entry-level YU7 is expected to uphold Xiaomi’s high-spec strategy. Core technologies such as the Xiaomi HAD intelligent driving system and the HyperOS infotainment system are anticipated to be standard, ensuring that the lower price point does not compromise the user experience.
