On December 18, 2021, Haval‘s brand-new model “Shen Shou” (Chinese “神兽”)was officially launched, the name Shen Shou actually means the mythical animal. A total of 6 variants have been launched, with a price range of RMB 130,000 (~US$20,397) to RMB 167000 (~US$26,202). The new model is a compact SUV powered by 1.5T and 2.0T fuel engines.
The appearance design of Shen Shou is very bold, the full-featured front face is impressive. The new SUV’s large-sized front air intake grille is featured by a similar frameless design, which has a strong sense of the future, and is embellished with chrome-plated materials. In addition, the new SUV is also equipped with split headlights, and the far/low beams below are perfectly integrated with the front grille.
The side lines of the new car are sharp, with clear layers of light and shadow effects. In terms of body size, its length, width and height are 4780/1890/1675mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2800mm. In addition, the roof of the new car is featured with a slightly downward-slip design, giving the vehicle a more intense sporty attribute. As for the rims, the new models offer 18/19-inch rims to choose from depending on the configuration.
At the rear, the taillights of the Haval Shen Shou are quite sharp, and in order to further highlight its own sports positioning, there is a unique roof spoiler at the upper end, a diffuser and a total of two-exhaust exhaust at the bottom.
Entering the car, the interior design of the Shen Shou is a very concise type. The full LCD instrument uses a design that is connected to the central control touch screen. This is also the current popular method. This also makes the entire central console hardly retain additional physical buttons. In addition, the new car’s central control screen is featured by a design that is biased toward the driver’s side. In terms of multimedia system functionality, navigation, voice recognition control, car networking, and OTA upgrades are all standard features.
In terms of power, Haval Shen Shou is powered by a 1.5T high-power four-cylinder engine code-named 4B15C, with a maximum power of 184 horsepower and a maximum torque of 275 Nm. At the same time, the new car has also launched a 2.0T version, its maximum power reaches 224 horsepower and has a peak torque of 345 N·m. The transmission system of all models is matched with a 7-speed wet dual clutch gearbox.
