Geely has officially launched the updated Galaxy E5 in China, with prices ranging from 97,800 to 137,800 yuan (approximately $13,800 to $19,400 USD). The refreshed electric SUV introduces significant mechanical and technological upgrades, most notably shifting from a front-wheel-drive to a rear-wheel-drive configuration for its core models.
The new Galaxy E5 retains its signature closed-off front grille and sleek headlight design but adds a more aggressive front bumper with matte chrome accents and a shovel-style front lip. A major addition is the integration of LiDAR, supporting the advanced Qianli Haohan H5 driver-assistance system, which enables urban and highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), memory parking, and automated parking features.
Dimensionally, the vehicle measures 4,630 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,745 mm. Geely has moved away from flush door handles, opting for a more traditional design, and added a 160-liter front trunk (frunk) to enhance cargo capacity.
Inside, the cabin features a 15.4-inch 2.5K floating central display and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The interior is upgraded with a new steering wheel design, a crystal gear selector, and the FlymeAuto 2 smart cockpit system. Comfort amenities include zero-gravity front passenger seats, 50W wireless phone charging, and a premium sound system.
Under the hood, the core models now utilize an 800V architecture with a rear-mounted motor producing 245 kW—an 85 kW increase over the previous version. These models also feature 6C ultra-fast charging and Geely’s new-generation Aegis short-blade battery. Range options include 530 km, 550 km, and 635 km (CLTC). A base 400V front-wheel-drive model with a 160 kW motor remains available.
Safety is bolstered by a body structure with a torsional rigidity of 36,000 N·m/deg and the use of 1500 MPa hot-formed steel. The vehicle also includes an all-scenario tire blowout stabilization system.
