At the 2026 Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, the firefly convertible concept car made its official debut. Created in collaboration with pioneering customizer Li E and dubbed “Clear Sky Blues,” the vehicle draws inspiration from retro rhythms, pushing the boundaries of what a trendy compact car can represent.
In terms of aesthetics, the car features a deep, signature blues-inspired body color, contrasted by rally-style white alloy wheels, creating a striking visual impact. While maintaining the core design language of the firefly brand, the concept incorporates refined details. Iconic elements such as the “trio” headlights and the dynamic rear ring are preserved, while the geometric relief on the C-pillar complements the capsule-style interior panels and hand-woven leather textures, creating a cohesive design language inside and out.
Alongside the convertible concept, the upgraded firefly production model was also showcased. The vehicle has undergone comprehensive hardware and software enhancements. The brand is offering a free electric drive power upgrade for all existing owners, increasing peak power to 120kW. In Sport mode, the 0-100km/h acceleration time is reduced to 7.9 seconds, providing more robust power delivery. Additionally, the car is now equipped with the Aster 1.5.0 intelligent operating system, further optimizing convenience and the overall smart driving experience.
Firefly is NIO’s sub-brand focused on cost-effective, compact electric vehicles. The brand’s debut model targets the youth market, positioning itself as a competitor to brands like Smart and Mini.
