On July 10, NIO (Weilai) announced the delivery results in the second quarter of 2019. According to the data, in the second quarter of this year, a total of 3,553 NIO ES8 and ES6 were delivered, of which 1,340 vehicles were delivered in June (the 944 vehicles were delivered by NIO ES8 and 413 vehicles were delivered by NIO ES6). Up to now, the delivery volume of NIO’s two production cars, NIO ES8 and NIO ES6, has reached 18,890.

Compared with the delivery of 3,989 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, the second quarter declined slightly. However, NIO said that the delivery of 3553 vehicles in the second quarter exceeded the company’s previous quarterly expectations of 2,800-3,200 vehicles. In the month of June, NIO completed the delivery of 1,340 vehicles, which was higher than the 1,089 vehicles in May and the 1,124 vehicles in April, which means that the overall sales volume is on the rise. The NIO ES8, which was delivered a year ago, has delivered 18,477 vehicles so far. The total monthly delivery of NIO ES6, which was delivered to users on June 18, 2019, was 413 units.

It is reported that NIO has set its total sales target for 2019 to 40,000 to 50,000 vehicles. At present, there is still a long way to go to achieve this goal. Several burning accidents that NIO has experienced recently have also had a certain impact on sales. On June 27th, NIO announced the recall of 4,803 NIO ES8. The reason for the recall was that there was a safety hazard in the extreme case that “the wiring harness insulation burned and caused the battery pack to run out of control and fire“. To this end, NIO will replace the improved power battery pack for vehicles within the recall range to eliminate safety hazards.

In addition to NIO ES6 and NIO ES8 that have been on the market, NIO’s first sedan ET preview was officially unveiled at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show held in April this year. The first model is scheduled to be officially listed on December 15, 2019.
