The Li i9 is positioned as a larger, pure electric SUV compared to the i8. It measures 5,225mm in length—an increase of 140mm over the i8—and features a wheelbase of 3,168mm, which is 118mm longer. Li Auto states that the i9 incorporates the spaciousness and comfort levels found in the flagship MEGA, with particularly high expectations for the legroom and overall comfort in the second and third rows.
Based on the side-profile images released, the Li i9 maintains the signature design language of the i-series. Compared to the i8, the i9 exhibits a more elongated stance and more balanced proportions. The new model is expected to feature a quad-LiDAR sensor array and adopt a new semi-hidden door handle design.
In 2026, Li Auto plans to upgrade its entire product lineup to an 800V high-voltage platform paired with 5C supercharging batteries to enhance efficiency and reduce energy consumption. These advancements are supported by the company’s efforts to deepen supply chain localization and achieve greater economies of scale.
