Spy shots of the upcoming Chery Tiggo 9 C-DM have surfaced, revealing significant updates that align the plug-in hybrid SUV with the latest iteration of the standard Tiggo 9. Most notably, the addition of a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor suggests a major upgrade to the vehicle’s intelligent driving assistance capabilities.
The most striking exterior feature is the new LiDAR module on the roof. While the current Tiggo 9 is equipped with the “Falcon 500” driving assistance system, the inclusion of LiDAR on the C-DM variant indicates it will likely feature the more advanced “Falcon 700” system, supported by a higher-performance computing chip. The rest of the exterior design mirrors the updated Tiggo 9, including the front and rear bumpers, headlight styling, and front grille. The dual charging ports at the rear confirm its plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Inside, the cabin design also follows the new Tiggo 9, featuring a center console screen that extends toward the passenger side and a revised center island layout. A notable addition is a sensor cluster positioned above the steering wheel, which is likely intended for a driver fatigue monitoring system.
The chassis architecture remains unchanged, retaining the front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension setup. In terms of performance, the vehicle is expected to continue utilizing the plug-in hybrid system found in the current Chery Tiggo 9 C-DM, which pairs a 1.5T engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 381 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque.
