It is no secret that Chinese manufacturers usually clone internationally-acclaimed designs of leading car manufacturers based outside China. Now, Chery seems to be following suit as the popular Chinese automobile company shows off its latest model eQ5, which seems to draw inspiration from Lynk& Co model.

The first glimpse of the eQ5 floated around the web for quite some time last year (check here: Chery Unveiled New Model: Chery S61 Will be a New EV from Its All-Aluminum Pure Electric Platform). A set of recently surfaced images reveal the battery SUV undergoing a test in –32 °С (–25 °F) temperature. The inspection took place in December 2019 to reach the lowest possible temperature.

However, Chery has not officially named the car yet while Chinese media is referring the model as eQ5 as the dimensions of the model can be compared with Audi Q5. As per the reports the car measures 4,630 mm (15.19 ft.) long, 1,650 mm (5.41 ft.) tall, and 1,910 mm (6.27 ft.) wide.

Chery’s brand new LFS unitized platform is utilized by the car which is suitable for vehicles that work on electric which means eQ5 might never have another gas-powered version.
The body of the car is made out of 93% aluminum and initially, the drive will be on the rear axle, which might have an AWD option available soon. The digital dashboard and infotainment display in the center will be covered with a solid glass pane. The on-board feature will help to boost the voice command and face recognition.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of China suggests that the e-CUV will be shipped in two different specifications, providing users an option to get a low-priced model. The more experience model will feature 177 hp (132 kW) with 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque and the affordable specs will offer 163 hp (122 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft).

The best part is that both the specs will be packaged with the same battery of NEDC-rated for 510 kilometers to provide you with continuous driving experience. The eQ5 allegedly be shown at Auto China expo starting from 21st April to 30th April 2020, meanwhile, the production process has already begun in Wuhu.
