BYD Unveils Flagship “Da Tang” Large SUV: Pre-Sales Start at $34,500 with 590-Mile Range

The 2026 Beijing Auto Show officially kicked off on April 24, where BYD announced the pre-sale pricing for its highly anticipated flagship SUV, the Da Tang. The lineup includes three variants (800km RWD, 950km RWD, and 850km AWD), with pre-sale prices ranging from 250,000 to 320,000 RMB ($34,500 – $44,100 USD). Early buyers can enjoy perks such as 18 months of free flash charging, complimentary single-tone paint upgrades, and three years of basic maintenance.

### Bold Exterior Design
The BYD Da Tang adopts the brand’s latest design philosophy. The front fascia is dominated by a massive 2.41-meter continuous light strip with a dual-line design and an illuminated logo, creating a striking visual identity. Vertical LED headlights flank the closed grille, while the lower bumper features a trapezoidal intake with active shutters inspired by traditional Chinese folding fans.

Measuring 5,263 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a massive 3,130 mm wheelbase, the Da Tang is significantly larger than the Tang L. It sits on 21-inch wheels and offers a 252-liter electric front trunk (frunk).

### Luxury and Tech-Focused Interior
Inside, the cabin blends modern technology with traditional aesthetics, featuring wood-grain textures inspired by ancient Chinese architecture. The dashboard houses a triple-screen setup: a full LCD instrument cluster, a floating central infotainment screen, and a dedicated entertainment screen for the front passenger. Additional features include a large Head-Up Display (HUD) and a premium 27-speaker Devialet audio system.

The vehicle utilizes a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout. The second row is equipped with dual “zero-gravity” independent seats featuring integrated leg rests, diamond-quilted stitching, and a one-touch flat-lay mode. Passengers in the rear also benefit from a large folding ceiling screen, fold-out tables, and an onboard refrigerator. The third-row seats are power-adjustable and include heating functions.

### Performance and Intelligent Driving
The Da Tang is packed with BYD’s latest “black tech,” including the DiPilot 5.0 (God’s Eye) advanced driving assistance system, which supports both urban and highway navigation.

In terms of powertrain:

The SUV is also equipped with BYD Flash Charge technology, the DiSus-A (Yun-Nian A) intelligent air suspension system, and dual-chamber air springs with road-preview capabilities.

### Market Outlook
As the new flagship of the Dynasty series, the Da Tang is designed to push BYD further into the premium segment. It faces stiff competition from rivals like the IM LS8 and Deepal S09. With its blend of massive dimensions, high-end tech, and BYD’s extensive dealer network, the Da Tang is poised to be a major disruptor in the large SUV market when it officially launches in May.
