BYD has officially unveiled the first images of the Dolphin G DM-i, a new plug-in hybrid hatchback specifically engineered for the European market. The vehicle is set to make its official debut in June, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin this autumn.
In terms of design, the Dolphin G DM-i embraces a hatchback aesthetic tailored to European preferences. The front fascia features a minimalist approach, highlighted by swept-back integrated headlights connected by a sleek black trim panel that houses the prominent BYD logo. The lower bumper incorporates an active grille shutter, flanked by dynamic air intakes that enhance both aerodynamics and visual appeal.
The side profile showcases an aggressive, upward-sloping character line that gives the car a forward-leaning, sporty stance. It is equipped with semi-hidden door handles and blacked-out, petal-style alloy wheels. Measuring 4.16 meters in length and 1.825 meters in width, the new model is shorter and wider than the current Dolphin, suggesting a more planted and agile footprint.
Under the hood, the Dolphin G DM-i utilizes BYD’s advanced DM plug-in hybrid system offering 60km or 90km technology. While specific powertrain details remain under wraps, the company has confirmed an impressive total driving range of 1,000 kilometers. Further technical specifications are expected to be released during the official launch in June.
