Recently, Huawei announced on the official Weibo that its autonomous driving operating system kernel (including virtualization mechanism) has obtained the highest level of functional safety certification (ISO 26262 ASIL D) in the field of Safety, and it is also the first operating system kernel in China to obtain ASIL D certification. It is understood that the kernel also obtained the highest level of information security certification (CC EAL 5+) in the field of Security in September 2019. So far, Huawei’s self-driving operating system kernel has become the industry’s first commercial OS kernel with dual high security and safety certification.
In addition to the core of the autonomous driving operating system, including Huawei’s intelligent electric (mPower), autonomous driving full-stack solution, and MDC intelligent driving computing platform, it has successively obtained ISO 26262 functional safety ASIL D level certification. The difference is that the core of Huawei’s autonomous driving operating system is that the product itself obtains ASIL D certification for vehicle-level functional safety, and the latter three are certified for the development process and management system.
Autonomous driving is an important part of Huawei’s solution to build intelligent connected cars. In 2014, Huawei and Dongfeng Motor, Changan Auto and other Chinese and international car companies launched cooperation in the fields of car networking and smart cars. In 2018, Huawei and Audi cooperated to plan to launch models supporting 5G connected vehicles in 2022. In October of the same year, Huawei released the L4-level autonomous driving computing platform MDC600, which will also be carried on Audi models.
In the field of autonomous driving, Huawei has also launched an autonomous driving cloud service, also known as HUAWEI Octopus, together with Huawei’s MDC intelligent driving computing platform and intelligent driving OS, form a car-cloud collaborative intelligent driving platform. It is reported that Huawei’s autonomous driving solution can help car companies and developers to develop autonomous driving applications more quickly, and promote the commercial landing process of autonomous driving.
