The Freelander 8 First Edition has officially made its public debut, showcasing a blend of heritage-inspired design and cutting-edge technology. This exclusive launch edition features unique body colors and commemorative badging to distinguish it from the rest of the lineup.
The vehicle continues the design philosophy introduced by the Concept 97, merging classic styling cues with a modern, electrified aesthetic. Its exterior is characterized by a rugged, imposing stance with clean, powerful lines. Measuring 5,118 (or 5,185) mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm, the Freelander 8 offers a spacious six-seat interior. Notable design elements include silver front and rear bumpers that emphasize its crossover capabilities, frameless windows, and a distinctive C-pillar design. For those with towing needs, an optional towing package is available, supporting a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 kg.
Technologically, the Freelander 8 First Edition is a powerhouse. It is the first model to feature an 896-line LiDAR system paired with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip. It comes standard with the latest generation Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system and is built on an 800V high-voltage extended-range platform.
Off-road performance is a core pillar of the Freelander 8. It utilizes the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, developed in deep collaboration with Huawei, which features front, center, and rear “three-lock” capability. The system can predict road conditions in milliseconds to plan the optimal traversal strategy. Hardware includes a front mechanical differential lock, a rear e-LSD limited-slip differential, a virtual center lock, and a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension system.
Under the hood, the vehicle employs an extended-range powertrain featuring a 1.5T engine with a maximum output of 115 kW. The lineup will include Pro, Max, and Max+ versions, all equipped with a 60.331 kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric range of 221 km.
