It is understood that Mercedes-Benz plans to launch the new SUV model GLB based on the MFA2 platform in 2019 to counter the BMW X1 long-wheelbase version and the upcoming China-spec Audi Q3L.

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser of the interior of their new Concept GLB concept car, set to debut on the Shanghai Auto Show on April 16.

From the preview images, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz CONCEPT GLB adopts the Mercedes-Benz family-style design style. The instrument panel + central control integrated screen design highlights the sense of technology. In addition, the three-type multi-function steering wheel and the turbofan air conditioner outlet are the classic Benz family design.

Judging from the previous Mercedes-Benz GLB spy photos, the design of the new car is far from the GLA, but it is closer to the discontinued GLK.

The GLB is a new crossover that will sit between the GLA and the GLC. It will be made in China by Beijing-Benz, and the real thing will launch on the Chinese car market in early 2020. Interestingly, Chinese media report that there will be a long-wheelbase seven-seat version as well, likely only for the Chinese market.

It is not difficult to guess the power on GLB, similar to the A-class based on the MFA2 platform, providing a high-power version of the 1.3Turo engine and 2.0Turbo engine. In addition, AMG high-performance version will be also available, equipped with a 2.0T engine, and will use a 48V mild hybrid system, 4-MATIC four-wheel drive system will be standard.

The GLB has been spotted testing in Germany and also in China.
